流動的な身体

Body in Flux (流動的な身体)　は、生命としての存在と肉体を持つ存在という両面から人間の在り様を考察する展示である。私は、身体化の解釈を再構築するということに興味があるが、このことは、私自身、また他者との関わりを理解するのにも役立つ。

女性の身体についてのタブーは、今日もなお、我々の文化におけるものの考え方に組み込まれている。社会的に正しい身体は、体液で汚れるということがないことになっている。体液は肉体の境界に浸透することが可能であり、外側の境界が完全に崩壊した場合には、死を迎える。母体は、体液が内部にとどまるのを否定するが、このことを私は多くの作品を通じて表現している。

Body in Flux (流動的な身体)　は、アーティストとして、女性として、母として、また娘としての観点から自己について考える、という私自身の経験を基に制作した、一連の作品である。

Yokohama Rain - Japan Revisited
Russell Craig

Craig’s drawings were initially inspired by his travels, appreciation of Japan, and the sea. He has utilised the concepts of rhythm, motion and natural erosion in each of these visual sojourns. This is the first time these works have been exhibited in Japan. Some of the major drawings having been were shown in Australia at Redlands Art Gallery, Cleveland, Queensland in December 2013. Japan and its culture have inspired many of their creations, so in one sense the manifestation here can be taken as a revisitation.

This event also affords the artist an opportunity to personally thank the institutions and people that have assisted in Russell’s 7 previous visits to Japan as a visiting art lecturer and artist.

The institutions include Tokyo University of Arts (Geidai), Tama Art University, Joshibi University of Art and Design, and Kyoto Saga University of Arts.

The individuals include Master Printer Satoru Itazu, Professor Hirotoshi Sakaguchi, Professor Emeritus Fumiko Murray, Professor Katsuaki Sakata, Professor Hiroshi Sano, Professor Kuniko Satake, Academic Manager Akira Shimoda, translator Miho Imamura and artists Yuki Okumura, Erina Matsui, Yuna Ogino, Isao Yamaguchi, and Yuki Nagashima, and Australians Associate Professor Linda Dennis, and lecturer Neilton Clarke among many others. Russell would like to take this opportunity of thanking each and every one of his Japanese friends sincerely with helping him through his wonderful journey into Japan’s art, culture and people.

横浜の雨　–　日本再訪
ラッセル・クレイグ

ラッセル・クレイグのドローイングは、旅や日本に対する関心、また海からのインスピレーションを起点としている。そして、クレイグは、リズム、動き、自然による風化の概念を、これらの視覚的な存在において表現した。

これらの作品は、日本では今回が初めての展示となる。このうち主だった数点は、2013年12月に、オーストラリアのクイーンズランド州クリーブランドにあるレッドランド市立美術館で展示されている。

作品の多くは日本と日本文化に触発されたもので、そうしたことから日本におけるこの展示はある意味、日本再訪ともとらえることができる。

クレイグはこれまで７回、ある時は講師として、またある時はアーティストとして来日している。今回の展示は、クレイグにとって、過去の滞在中にお世話になった多くの方々や教育機関に、直接感謝を述べる機会である。特に以下の皆様には大変お世話になった。ありがとうございます（一部敬称略にて失礼します）。
